Kitchen Assistant (Lake Chabot Marina & Cafe)

Reports to: General Manager

Classification: Regular, Part Time, Non-Exempt


Summary

The primary objective of the Kitchen Assistant is to assist the cook with food preparation and service. The Kitchen Assistant works performs light cooking duties, as directed by the cook, as well as maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.

Essential Functions

  • Assists cook with food preparation and service.
  • Properly uses and cleans all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Assists cook as requested in tasks as directed including dishwashing, cutlery cleaning, trash disposal.
  • Light cooking (stirring, heating, preparing cold foods, etc.) when directed.
  • Unload and stock deliveries.
  • Maintains clean and orderly cook station, following sanitation and food preparation guidelines.
  • Reports all inventory and supply issues to supervisor.
  • Operates cash register and credit card machine.
  • Cleans and organized stock room.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Possesses good communications skills, a courteous demeanor, and a helpful attitude.
  • Understanding of restaurant/café operational procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time and/or consistently move about the facility and occasionally lift 20+lbs.
  • Willing and able to work varying shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Able to remain stationary for long periods of time.
  • Able to follow directions and also work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Possess current California Food Handler's certification.
